Snowshoe at Quaaout Lodge and Talking Rock Resort
At Quaaout Lodge, when the snow sets in, you have two options before you: explore the trails around the traditional Secwepemc territory on your own, or with a cultural interpreter. Strap on snowshoes that you can rent directly from our lodge and set off to explore the scenery using our maps to guide you.
If snowshoeing isn’t in your itinerary, feel free to explore on foot, remembering to bring warm and comfortable clothing. Regardless of your choice, the views of our surroundings in winter will not disappoint.
Storytelling at Quaaout Lodge and Talking Rock Resort
Our land is full of history and there is no better way to become familiar with stories of how the Secwepemc people lived than sitting around a warm fire in a traditional on-site Kekuli (winter home). During this 75 minute experience, you will learn what life was like before Europeans arrived up to our modern day, and we begin storytelling with a smudge, which is a tradition to cleanse the body.
Larch Hills Ski Area
Larch Hills is a winter playground if you are a cross-country skiing enthusiast. With just under 200 kms of tracks and runs, they are located just outside of Salmon Arm. An hour’s drive from Quaaout Lodge, add Larch Hills to your itinerary when you stay with us, play in the snow all day and then come back to indulge yourself in our spa or take in a delicious ,savoury meal in Jack Sam’s, where our food is created using locally inspired culinary traditions.
If you’re looking for more of an adventurous excursion, a short drive from Quaaout Lodge you can ride snowmobiles in deep snow, testing your adrenaline limits on their backcountry terrain, suitable for all levels of snowmobile riders. At the end of the day, come back to your room at Quaaout Lodge and calm your mind in our hot tub and pool.
